Nickel Free Stainless Steel Cookware

Finding nickel free stainless steel cookware is not particularly easy. If you are allergic to nickel, thus 18/10 stainless steel, your options are limited, but you still have some very good ones.

I recently received an e-mail asking where to find nickel free stainless steel cookware. In more than one of my articles

I mention that if you are allergic to nickel, you'll need to find 18/0 stainless steel cookware. Well, to my surprise, it's easier said than done.

I researched it and found a few important discoveries. I will be posting additional articles about this in the next few weeks. But in summary:

  • 18/0 stainless steel cookware is not considered the best stainless steel because the nickel provides rust prevention, and adds to the appearance of the stainless steel.
  • There ARE some quality brands of 18/0 stainless steel cookware.
  • Other choices for cookware include enameled stainless steel, cast iron, and glass/ceramic/stoneware.

More on this topic will be posted in the next several weeks, most probably after the cookware sales info is published.

The only one I that know of and which is popular, is the Farberware Millennium cookware. Some places list it as 18/10, but it is 18/0. Even the Farberware site, in one place, lists it as 18/10, and another place as 18/0. But when you purchase it, it says right on the box it is 18/0.
