Is Anodized Aluminum Cookware Safe

I see quite a few visitors to the site asking about the safety of anodized aluminum cookware. I addressed the issue briefly in the articles on anodized cookware and safe and healthy cookware. But now, I have written a new article that addresses the issue fully.

In my article Is Anodized Aluminum Cookware Safe , I  look at where aluminum is found in our environment, where we already get so much aluminum in our bodies, what the dangers are of too much aluminum, and my recommendation on whether or not to use anodized aluminum cookware.

Take a look at it and leave me a comment. Do you use anodized aluminum cookware? Are you concerned about the health ramifications? Or do you consider the small amount of aluminum leached into your food too small to worry about?

Happy Cooking!

Mark

I bought Circulon cookware a few months ago and I love them. Nothing sticks to them and the cleaning has been very easy every time. However, I had placed some water a dish soap in my saucepan while it rested on top of the hot stove and left them due to an emergency. When I returned to the pan there were dark stains that I have not been able to remove. I read the official recommendations to use water and vinegar, and a special brush was mentioned but I have not found a place that sells them. DO you have any suggestions?

I would use any stiff bristled brush, commonly used with cast iron pans. Any department store will have them in housewares. Unfortunately, I don't think you'll have much luck unless the stain is sitting on top of the surface, not embedded into the surface.

I would suggest trying the stiff bristled brush. If it works, great. If not, I'm sure the pan will still function fine.
