Staub stoneware is relatively new to the company. There are many sizes, shapes, and colors from which to choose. A round cocotte (French oven) is available at .25 quart, .5 quart, and .75 quart sizes. An oval cocotte is available at .25, .5, and 1 quart sizes. The mini round dishes, mini oval dishes, and mini rectangular dishes are all available in 8 oz. sizes. All come in black, orange, or red enamel exteriors and open vessels have white interiors. Staub stoneware is sturdy, durable, and beautiful. It will handle up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. The Staub stoneware will hold heat for a long period of time while presenting your dishes with great flair. Handles are large for easy gripping and holding. Knobs are ceramic.

The final Staub stoneware item, the tajine, comes in two sizes, a 7 inch and a 13.33 inch. The colors for this stoneware vessel are much lighter in tone, and have a greater variety. The four colors are natural, navy blue, aquatic green and saffron.

It’s recommended that you choose and use the right size stoneware dish to ensure that food cooks evenly and well. When using the tajine do not put cold liquid into the food while the food is cooking, and do not put the tajine in direct contact with an open flame.

Staub stoneware is dishwasher safe, but for best results clean by hand with care. Do not use heavy, abrasive products like metal sponges on the stoneware.

The Staub family business began when Auguste Waldner bought a cookware store in Alsace in 1892. When his grandson Francis Staub quit an acting career to take over the family business and buy a cast iron plant in 1974, the modern company was born. Today the Staub family business considers itself the undisputed leader in culinary cast iron cookware in France and numerous chefs around the world agree.  Joel Robuchon, Paul Bocuse, Thomas Keller, and Jean Joho are all loyal customers who appreciate the company’s hand wrought cast iron cookware and special, traditional manufacturing process in which artisans create one-of-a-kind pieces by hand for every customer. The company continues to expand by producing new product lines in the same tradition.
