Lodge Pro-Logic cast iron cookware is available in a wide array of styles from traditional to exotic. The line includes skillets, griddles, woks, pizza pans, and even 9 inch Aebleskiver pans. The difference between the Lodge Logic and Pro Logic lines is in styling. Lodge has a system for pre-seasoning cookware that they developed in 2002. Normally, cast iron sticks and is not considered to produce foods that cook as well, or taste as great until countless meals produce a black, rich patina on the bottom. Lodge duplicates that affect by spraying vegetable oil and cooking it in a high temperature gas oven. Now, their Logic and Pro-Logic lines both come pre-seasoned like this, and ready to use.

The way to care for this cookware is to remember that it's iron. After cooking clean with a stiff nylon brush and hot water, soap is not recommended and detergents should not be used at all. Towel dry immediately and apply a bit of oil while it's still warm.

Lodge Cast Iron is a family business that still operates out of the tiny Appalachian community of South Pittsburg , Tennessee where they were founded in 1896. Nonetheless, Lodge Cast Iron produces the most extensive selection of high quality cast iron goods on the market. The company prides itself on its eco-friendly practices that include recycling and even planting trees. Prices are affordable, and their products are so durable that many of their skillets, Dutch ovens and griddles made over 100 years ago are still in use today.

Lodge Pro-Logic cookware comes with a lifetime warranty.

LodgeStack.jpgAmazon reviewers give the Pro-Logic cookware line 4 to 5 stars. Of the pre-seasoned, 10 inch skillet one person notes an interesting health benefit; “I greatly prefer cast iron over most other materials for skillets and such. It's all about the even heat. Of course weight is an issue, but that's unfortunately true of anything that does retain heat - the only competitor is cast aluminum - and I wonder if there might be problems with ingesting that metal in tiny, regular quantities. But iron; iron is GOOD for you, and most of us don't get quite enough as it is.”

Another says of the square griddle that rated lower than some of the other products in this line, “I wanted to love this griddle because I have other Lodge pans and the size is great. That said, even with preheating, this griddle does not heat evenly - the center gets much hotter than the corner areas. For pancakes, I rotate them just to have some even browning. A disappointment.”
